Quarterback Ben DiNucci tossed a touchdown pass, ran for a touchdown and threw for a three-point conversion to lead the host Seattle Sea Dragons to a 21-14 win over the visiting Houston Roughnecks in XFL action on Thursday.
DiNucci completed 17 of 32 passes for 209 yards with three interceptions. He also was the leading ball-carrier for Seattle (3-2) with 33 yards on four carries, including a 20-yard run that opened the scoring in the first quarter.
The Roughnecks (4-1) trailed 15-0 through three quarters before cutting into the deficit in the fourth. After pulling within 21-14 with 19 seconds left on a 47-yard scoring pass from Brandon Silvers to Justin Smith and then adding a two-point conversion, Houston got the ball back by converting a fourth-and-15 play from its own 25-yard line with a 17-yard connection from Silvers to Deontay Burnett.
After a penalty moved the ball to the Seattle 27-yard line, Houston's last chance ended when Niko Lalos intercepted a pass.
Silvers threw for 227 yards with one touchdown and one interception on 25-of-47 passing. Smith caught three passes for 63 yards and a score.
